Endoscopic Mid Facelift

Endoscopic Mid Facelift Surgery by Atlanta-area Surgeon Dr. Burke Robinson

While lower facelift surgery is the best option for many patients, some people can benefit most from endoscopic mid facelift surgery. In this procedure, Atlanta-area surgeon Dr. Burke Robinson targets the middle third of the face, including sagging of tissues that develop from the area of the cheek bones to the corner of the mouth, using an advanced endoscopic technique. When performed on appropriate patients, endoscopic mid facelift surgery results in an extremely natural look and requires minimal recovery time due to very small incisions in combination with the minimally invasive endoscopic approach.

Candidates for Endoscopic Mid Facelift Surgery

Endoscopic mid facelift surgery benefits individuals who do not have a significant amount of excess skin, but have experienced some facial sagging and creasing in localized areas of the face. In particular, endoscopic mid facelift surgery benefits those with sagging of the soft tissue of the cheeks toward the nose and mouth. Dr. Robinson performs the endoscopic mid facelift to rejuvenate the middle of the face, thereby repositioning cheek tissue that has migrated from gravity and time back to its proper anatomic position using a state-of-the-art absorbable implant. This results in a more natural fullness and roundness to the midface and specifically the cheek bone region using the patient's own tissues, not a permanent implant. This area is difficult to treat with classic facelift surgery, but advances in endoscopic techniques enable Dr. Robinson to make natural-looking improvements to this region of the face. An endoscopic mid facelift consultation at our Atlanta-area offices can help determine if this treatment option is appropriate for you.

Surgical Procedure

Endoscopic mid facelift surgery is performed using substantially different methods from classic facelift surgery. Instead of two long incisions made on either side of the face, Dr. Robinson makes one incision inside the lip on each side, and two tiny incisions on each side of the head behind the hairline. No hair is cut or shaved. With the patient under "twilight" or general anesthesia, a tiny camera is inserted so that Dr. Robinson can watch his work on a video monitor as he gently manipulates the facial tissue. Dr. Robinson can restore the soft three-dimensional shape of a youthful cheek with this amazing procedure.

Recovery and Results

Endoscopic mid facelift patients enjoy a shortened recovery time compared to lower facelift patients. This is possible because the incisions made in the endoscopic mid facelift are very tiny (a fraction of the length required for lower facelift surgery). It is not unusual for patients to return to work within one to two weeks after surgery. The result is a youthful, yet natural-looking appearance.
