R. ROBINSON: Brow lift is a great procedure for patients where progressively over time their brows have been descending. And it can give the illusion that there is excess skin when in fact really just the brow needs to be brought back up some. This is the procedure that patients are always concerned about looking like a deer in the headlights. A lot of times patients come in, they say yeah, I want my eyes to look better but I don’t want to look like a deer in the headlights. Well upper and lower eyelid surgery doesn’t produce that, it’s actually brow surgery that can do that if you raise the brow too high. So it’s good that you, someone has a good aesthetic eye of what looks good for raising the brow without making it look like a deer in the headlight. Males can get away with a lower set brow than females. So that’s also important that we discern the difference between the female brow lift and the male brow lift. What’s nice about the procedure is we do it endoscopically now. The old fashion way was to make an incision across the top of the head and raise the brow up. And that would create hair loss in that incision and patients typically would be numb on the top of their head the rest of their life. Now just like orthopedic surgeons do major knee surgeries through tiny little incisions, we can do a brow lift with tiny incisions right behind the hair line and raise the brow up where we want it to be. We put an absorbable tiny implant in that holds the brow up while it heals back in the right position and it dissolves and goes away. Patients get a real rejuvenated result, looks really good. The down time for that, maybe a week and patients are back out again with some makeup. Sometimes it’s quicker than a week. Longevity of that can be variable. Most patients seem to get a long term result of almost never having to come back. Once in a while the patient comes back where we need to bring it back up.
