DR. ROBINSON: Chin augmentation is for anyone who basically has a weak chin. It’s a very simple procedure. We’re using an implant that’s been approved by the FDA for almost 30 years. It’s solid, it’s not liquid. Patients are always worried if I’m going to put it here, is it going to end up here. Never had that happen, they always stay right there. It’s a very localized procedure. It’s made out of siliconized [phonetic] rubber so it can’t be, you can’t be allergic to it. There’s been no history of any allergic reactions or issues with it. It’s extremely rejuvenating, very simple procedure and after about a month or two, you don’t even know it’s there, almost everybody after six months when they come in, how do you like your chin implant? They’re like, oh yeah, that, I like it, I forgot I have it. It just blends right in. And the reason is first of all, you have total sensation that’s normal and on top of that the old fashioned implants were very narrow. So they looked like a little rock underneath your chin. But as I mentioned about 25, 30 years ago they were redesigned to be much longer but they taper, so they just feather right into the contour of the mandible. So you can’t really tell where they stop and where they start. So the procedure is really for anybody who’s pretty much skeletally mature or done growing. So usually around age 16 on it’s going to be okay to use that. And it’s very common to do that with rhinoplasty because a lot of time the nose will look over projected when really it’s not the nose as much as the chin being receded.
