Glowing skin is always in. But after a whole summer full of sun exposure, your skin may develop sunspots, fine lines and lose its healthy glow. Aside from sun exposure, our skin naturally loses its glow as it ages. While some lasers can’t effectively remove this damage, the HALO laser resurfacing treatment eliminates years of damage by precisely targeting the right depth – not too shallow or too deep.
What is HALO?
HALO uses a device from Sciton that combines both non-ablative and ablative treatments in a single session. These two types of lasers work together to help you get better skin with less downtime. The ablative laser clears portions of the epidermis and evaporates damaged tissue to promote healing. The non-ablative laser penetrates deep into the dermal layer to produce specific coagulation zones and stimulate collagen regeneration. Fully customizable to the unique needs of each patient, HALO brings laser treatments to the next level due to its consistency, efficiency and safety.
What does HALO treat?
Whether you have mild or severe skin damage, HALO treats an assortment of conditions, including sun damage, discoloration, enlarged pores, signs of aging, uneven skin tone and scarring. While everyone’s skin and needs are different, HALO is customizable – and a light treatment creates such smooth and vibrant skin, you’ll be back to wearing makeup the next day. Want a little more impact? A more intense treatment will provide that youthful glow with just a few days’ downtime.
What does the HALO treatment look like?
This efficient procedure typically takes about 30 minutes. An hour prior to the procedure, a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to prepare the skin for laser contact, and a cooling device used throughout the HALO session helps maintain patient comfort and continues post-treatment as the patient remains in the office for an additional 15-20 minutes. Then, a restorative solution is applied to the treated area before the patient departs with a complete home care kit and instructions.
What else should I expect from the HALO treatment?
There are some post-treatment expectations to be aware of. It’s normal for the treatment area to feel warm for 12 to 24 hours post-treatment. Swelling can also be expected for 2 to 4 days but can be alleviated with cold compresses and ice packs.
Within 2 to 3 days, the treated areas may develop a bronzed appearance, small dark spots become visible and some crusty patches may surface. Since this is a natural part of the healing process as fresh tissue regenerates, the skin may be very dry and flaky. Avoid scratching these areas. Once the peeling process concludes, the skin glows with a rosy tint and will gradually soften.
How long do the effects of HALO last?
Just one HALO treatment provides amazing results, but the benefits of HALO multiply with each treatment. Always supplement treatment with daily sunscreen to protect your healthy, glowing skin.
