If your skin is looking dull and tired after too much fun in the sun this summer, now is the time to bring it back to life with a Halo Laser Treatment. This innovative laser technology combines the dramatic results of an ablative laser procedure with the comfort and short recovery of a non-ablative procedure. The treatment can be customized to your unique concerns and desired results, giving you the healthy glow you are looking for to head into the fall season.

Getting Rid of Summer Damage

The Halo Laser can address nearly all the signs of sun damage you may be seeing at the end of the summer season, including:

  • Uneven skin texture & tone
  • Brown spots & freckles
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Mild skin laxity

In addition, the laser reduces the appearance of enlarged pores and shallow scarring that may plague you year-round. The device can work effectively on nearly any skin type and tone, and can be used on any sun-exposed areas of skin including the face, décolleté, shoulders and the backs of the hands.

Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Treatments

Ablative laser treatments remove the outermost layers of skin to trigger the body’s own healing response. While the results can be dramatic and long-lasting, the recovery time can be slow and uncomfortable. Non-ablative treatments involve little discomfort or downtime. However, the results are much more subtle and treatments need to be repeated regularly to maintain those positive results.

The Halo Laser combines both ablative and non-ablative treatment in a single procedure, giving patients dramatic results with less downtime. This allows the laser to work on both visible signs of sun damage on the skin’s surface and damage in the underlying dermal layers that you can’t see, but has an effect on the overall health and appearance of the skin.

Customized to Your Needs

Heather Davis, Assistant Laser Practitioner, in our Visage Skin Care Center (a division of Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery) can customize the depth of your Halo Laser treatment to your specific needs. This means you get just enough laser energy delivered to address your concerns – no more, no less. The ability to customize also allows for treatment of different skin concerns, making this device a wonderfully versatile option in the battle against sun damage.

Quick Treatment, Little Downtime

A Halo Laser treatment begins with the application of a topical anesthetic approximately one hour prior to the procedure. The treatment itself typically only takes around 30 minutes to complete, depending on the size and number of treatment areas to address. After the procedure, patients spend about 15 minutes getting cooling to the skin to bring it back to a comfortable temperature before heading home.

There are some side effects after a Halo Laser treatment, including skin redness and tenderness. Swelling is also common and can be relieved with ice packs and sleeping with the head elevated the first night or two. There is also flaking and peeling after the procedure, which may last 5-7 days. Despite these side effects, most patients are able to apply makeup and head back to regular activities the day after their procedure.
