Say Hello to Fall with Halo

The gorgeous autumn weather brings cooler temperatures and colorful leaves – and a chance to reverse the signs of sun damage from the summer. Let’s get real: our skin loses its youthful glow due to aging, but it also loses elasticity and vitality from sun exposure. The result?  Sunspots, fine lines and wrinkles that cause your skin to lose its healthy, natural glow.

Regaining that glowing skin is possible – with the right treatment. Prior to now, lasers could not effectively remove damage because the treatment was either too shallow or too deep. HALO Laser Resurfacing is a hybrid laser treatment that eliminates years of damage by targeting at just the right depth.

How it works:

HALO uses two types of lasers to treat your skin with less downtime. One laser clears portions of the epidermis and vaporizes damaged skin to promote healing. The other laser penetrates deep into the dermal layer to produce specific coagulation zones, stimulating collagen production.

What HALO treats:

Suitable for a variety of skin types and skin tones, HALO targets mild to severe skin damage to your face, neck and hands, including: sun damage, discoloration such as freckles or brown spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles and creases, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and poor texture.

HALO is customizable:

Because HALO uses two types of lasers, the treatment can be adjusted to fit your needs and skin type. A light treatment creates smooth, vibrant skin that is ready for makeup the next day. For more of a WOW factor, an intense treatment will give your skin a youthful glow with just a few days downtime.

What to expect during treatment?

HALO can be completed during your lunchbreak as the treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes. A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area an hour prior to the procedure, preparing the skin for laser contact. Then, a cooling device is used throughout the HALO session to maintain patient comfort. This continues post-treatment as patients typically remain at the office for an additional 15-20 minutes. Lastly, a restorative solution is applied to the treatment area before the patient departs with an at-home care kit.

What recovery looks like:

You get the best of both worlds: great results with minimal downtime. Prior to HALO, most laser treatments create great results with lengthy recovery, or marginal results with quick recovery. With HALO, you are typically back to work in one day with final results taking up to 1 month to notice. Many patients do notice improvement after just 7 days.  Downtime is between 3-5 days depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment.  Expect for the treated areas to appear red or swollen, then older skin cells will peel away to reveal new ones. It is normal for treated areas to remain warm for 12-24 hours post-procedure, but ice packs or cold compresses can provide relief. Mild pinpoint bleeding may occur for up to 12-hour post-procedure depending on the treatment depth.

What else you should know:

You can choose how many treatments you would like. Most patients are satisfied with 1 to 2 treatments, but more extensive signs of aging can benefit from up to 4 treatments spaced at least a month apart. Best improvement when treatment is combined with BBL.  At your consultation, Heather Davis, LE, Assistant Laser Practitioner & Licensed Esthetician, will discuss your needs and the treatments that may work best.
