Freckles, age spots, acne, rosacea. Multiple skin conditions can often leave us feeling self-conscious about our skin. Between sun exposure, pollution and aging, our skin can become dull and wrinkled. But did you know? Broadband Light Treatment (BBL) can correct these skin conditions, leaving your skin glowing and visibly clearer.
Why should you consider BBL? Your face is one of the key areas that immediately gives away your age. With years of unprotected sun exposure and the process of aging, our skin can make us appear older than we are. BBL reverses the signs of aging by minimizing sunspots, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and more.
Sunlight isn’t the best for your skin, but light energy from BBL is. Explore why:
What is BBL?
BBL, Broadband Light Therapy, is a non-invasive, cosmetic procedure that uses light energy to restore natural beauty, leaving your skin clearer, smoother, and vibrant. BBL uses a handheld device to heat the surface of skin with high-intensity light to reduce the appearance of age spots and pigmentation irregularities, like vascular legions. BBL stimulates your cells to regenerate new collagen and restore skin to its youthful state of health by blending its natural colors. The energy eliminates small vessels that can cause redness and reduces unwanted melanin that produces hyperpigmented areas. The result? Minimized blemishes and spots.
What skin concerns does BBL treat?
BBL is appropriate for most skin tones and can be used on any age patients. In short, BBL tackles it all. This is a great solution for resolving:
- Freckles, age spots and
- Vascular lesions and facial veins
- Small blood vessels and rosacea
- Sunspots, damage, and early signs of aging
- Uneven skin texture and tone
What does recovery look like?
Good news! There’s minimal downtime with BBL. Your skin may appear slightly red immediately following treatment, but this typically subsides within a few hours. Any pigmentation such as sunspots or acne treated during BBL will darken and then flake away from the skin completely within a few days. You’ll notice your skin will feel firmer and smoother.
What else can I expect?
During your consultation, Heather Davis, LE, Assistant Laser Practitioner & Licensed Esthetician will assess your skin and any hyperpigmentation, sunspots, acne and other areas that can be improved with BBL. Before your treatment, we’ll ask that you avoid sun exposure and refrain from using certain medications that can make you more sensitive to light. Treatment generally lasts 30-60 minutes. During treatment, you may feel a slight warming sensation on your skin and mild discomfort. Fortunately, BBL is equipped with advanced cooling features, allowing the use of intense light with minimal discomfort. After treatment, it’s best to avoid scented lotions, aggressive scrubbing and exfoliants. Overall, you skin may initially feel as if it is sunburned, but ice packs can help soothe your skin. For optimal results, it is recommended to undergo treatment two to four times per year.
