My First Ever Botox Experience

Mary Rebecca

I had my first ever Botox session today. After a few visits to Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery, the team of experts had equipped me with knowledge to ensure I’d fulfill my goal of looking 25 when I’m 35. One key to great skin? Invest while you’re young!

I started bi-monthly HydraFacial treatments with Heather since this past summer 2019, and since September, I’ve incorporated a mix of medical-grade skincare products, such as Vitamin C Revisions and glycolic acid from Skinceuticals. The result? Multiple people – family members, friends, co-workers – all commenting how great my skin looks.

I’ll be honest – I’ve noticed a difference too. And we are often our worst critic.

So, I started the HydraFacials, added in a robust skincare routine and now it was time for the next step of prevention: Botox Cosmetic

Admittedly, I was scared of using Botox. Afterall, no one wants to look artificial as if they’ve had work done. But after a consultation with Madison, I was beyond confident that Botox would work perfectly. Here’s what I learned:

  • Botox is a wrinkle-prevention solution because it works on muscle, not skin.

Over time, our skin loses volume – especially in our 30s and 40s. Botox prevents fine wrinkles and even prevents your existing wrinkles from becoming deeper. Since wrinkles are formed by muscle movement, it’s good to start Botox early to weaken facial muscles so less Botox is needed when you’re older.

  • It can be less expensive if you start Botox early.

When starting Botox in your late 20s, it’s likely you’ll need less injections because you won’t have as many or as deep of wrinkles as you would later in life. Less area to treat means less injections, equaling less money spent. And what’s even better? Botox typically lasts 3-4 months before you’ll need additional treatment.

  • Botox injections feel like a small pinch.

A bee sting hurts worse than a Botox injection. When Madison mentioned I’d need 7 injections, I thought I’d need a stress ball to keep me from flinching. Clearly, I worked myself up. Only two injections felt a bit more than a pinch – and those were in areas where there was less muscle and more bone on my forehead. But overall, it took less than 2 minutes to get 7 injections. So, if you’re in a time crunch, you definitely can get your Botox session accomplished over your lunch hour.

We welcome you to experience the difference with our expert injectors. There is a common misconception that cosmetic injections are safe and easy to administer.  The skill level and extensive training of the injector is vital to your outcome.  For the safest & most effective results, it’s important to understand that not all injectors are created equal.  Careful thought should be taken into consideration when selecting your cosmetic injector…after all, IT’S YOUR FACE.
